Five Faves 11-30-18 — Five things I’ve been consuming or enjoying this week.
First off, I must note that last week I mentioned I was enjoying Apple Cup predictions…the game, sadly, does not make my Five Faves this week, as WSU lost their 6th straight matchup with UW. Alas, the snow did make for some awesome pictures.

Now, onto things I did enjoy this week!
History of English Podcast
This is my new favorite podcast. The host, Kevin, describes historical events that shaped our modern language (interesting), and presents the history of English words and grammar (very interesting!). In one episode, Kevin discusses the origin of English surnames. My favorite tidbit from this episode described that surnames didn’t used to be hereditary, but rather merely descriptive. For example, Mary Townsend lived at the edge of town. If she moved, her new name might be Mary Bythewoods. So far, my two favorite episodes are What’s in a Name? and The Craft of Numbering.
Thanksgiving Leftovers
It’s important to purchase a turkey large enough to provide leftovers! Specifically, I need enough stuffing and turkey to make a few sandwiches. This year, I had enough leftovers that I was still eating turkey on Wednesday!
Evite.com
As December quickly approaches, Evite is an easy way to organize holiday events. Personally, I am looking forward to the third annual book exchange I am hosting tomorrow!

Seattle Sunsets
It’s rare to leave work before sundown in November, but this was a nice reward!
