Five Faves 11-23-18 — Five things I’ve been consuming or enjoying this week.
The Five Faves is a short blog post recapping my week through my engagements with products, entertainment, or experiences. My fall has been wonderful and holiday season is here, so I thought I would get back into my weekly posts! Happy Thanksgiving!
Yes We (Still) Can: Politics in the Age of Obama, Twitter, and Trump, by Dan Pfeiffer
This book was sent to me by my brother for my birthday. Dan Pfeiffer served as the Director for White House communications under President Obama and is now a host of Pod Save America. This book gave an inside perspective about the Obama White House, what happened in 2016, and where progressives can go from here. His optimism about the future of politics was refreshing.
Starbucks Thanksgiving Blend
Starbucks announces their red cups before the pumpkins have rotted, but don’t rush to the Christmas blend and overlook their Thanksgiving blend. The flavors in this blend are meant to pair with every aspect of a Thanksgiving feast, from the turkey to the pumpkin pie. Unfortunately, I did not drink any coffee with my meal yesterday…but I can confirm it’s a delicious start to the morning!
Apple Cup Predictions
The Cougars are 0-5 against the Huskies in the last five years. This year will be different. You heard it here first! Well, not first, since many analysts also agree. As a lifelong Coug fan, however, I will not be counting my chickens before they’ve hatched. It would be nice to see WSU avenge the 41-7 drubbing of 2017 with a big W today. The Apple Cup is on Nov. 23 at 5:30 PST.
Verizon Wireless Customer Service
I know. I’m just as shocked as you are. However, in case this is a one-time thing, I wanted to share that I had a nice customer service experience with Verizon about a data overage. PQ and I went over on data this month due to traveling, an unfamiliar new (data-sucking) app, and general lack of awareness. We did not, however, go over by as much as Verizon was trying to bill us for. A 20-minute chat with Riley cleared everything up before my bill finalizes tomorrow (knock on wood).
I’ll be back with five faves next week!
