Five Faves 2-22-19 — Five things I’ve been enjoying or consuming this past week.
It was a pretty slow week for me at work — I have a few experiments running right now and it’s a waiting game (fingers crossed for good results!). Instead, I was able to get a few non-work things done and have a relatively stress-free week.
We invited Katie Lem and her husband, Brian, over for dinner on Wednesday. Katie’s hobby is cupcake/cake decorating, so she offered to bring dessert (no arguing from us!). Of course, she brought a delectable, wonderfully decorated red velvet cake. Follow her on Instagram @vanillabean_counter!
Return to Mount Kennedy
Mountains make me happy. I don’t have any desire to climb Mt. Everest, but nothing makes me happier than a good mountain climbing story. I’ve been reading books on the topic lately, but a local mountaineering club held a screening of Return to Mount Kennedy on Tuesday that I enjoyed! Even PQ, a notably tough critic, gave it an 8/10.

Pur Eco Reusable Dryer Sheet
One of my 2019 resolutions was to “be more green,” and these dryer sheets were my first purchase. I have been using these for a little over a month and they work great. No static, even with dri fit material!
This is a Seattle specific recommendation, but I truly believe Cafe Allegro has the best lattes on the Ave. And they are the oldest espresso bar in Seattle…move over ‘Bucks!
What If It’s Us, by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera
I know I said I wasn’t going to read as much fiction this year…but this is an enjoyable bedtime read. I can’t do the whimsical writing justice, but it’s a nice story about two high school boys who begin dating during a summer in New York.
